The Deelavali celebrations continues!

JRDT's Director of Honor Mr. Robert Wheeler paid us for the differently able  boys   Deelavalai festival.

This year he brought clothes and helped the two disabled children, Vijay and Muttu. They are both from our neighbor village Adayalacherry and was very happy about the support and gifts from Mr. Robert Wheeler.

We at JRDT wants to send him a big thank you for helping us and showing so much care for people in need. We are already looking forward to his next visit!

Deepavali festival

Last week we had special celebrations at JRDT Orphanage due to the Deepavali festival!

The Deepavali festival is also known as the festival of lights and is a big holiday in all of India. During the festival we light a small special clay lamp which we leave on the whole night. This is a symbol for the good, the light, conquering the evil, the dark. We also light firecrackers as a symbol for driving away evil spirits and of course we eat a lot of snacks and sweets. What would a holiday be without something sweet?

At the Orphanage all the kids got to light there very own firecrackers. They thought it was a lot of fun and very exciting and would have loved to light even more firecrackers!
